Nominate your choice for Best Online Community. Blog format is not required, so forums and other types of communities are eligible.

To nominate a blog you need to leave a comment on this entry. Your comment should contain the name of the blog, the main URL for the blog, and (if possible) the URL for a RSS/Atom feed. For example:

Unless you login via one of the supported authentication services (Typekey, WordPress, OpenID, Yahoo, AIM, etc.) your comment will not be published immediately. Unauthenticated comments are placed in a moderation queue. Due to the volume of comments, it may take up to 24 hours for your comment to be approved. Comments from authenticated users will be published immediately.

Every so often our spam fighting service flags an authenticated comment as spam. If put more than 10 URL's in a comment it will set off the junk filter. If your comment doesn't immediately appear that's probably what happened. We review and "unjunk" these comments as we are approving unauthenticated comments. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

Rules And FAQ's

  • You can nominate yourself, don't be shy.
  • The number of nominations a blog receives is irrelevant. One nomination is enough...
  • Rather than add a "me too" nomination for a site you're encouraged to use the "+" icon to indicate your preference for nominees. The "+" ratings are one extra piece of information the finalist selection panel can use to help generate the finalist slates in each category.
  • Given the two previous items, we reserve the right to remove excessive comments (i.e. nominations) for the same site.
  • The nomination period is scheduled to end on Wednesday, November 19, 2008.
  • The nomination period has been extended to Friday, November 21, 2008.
  • Voting for selected finalists is scheduled to begin December 8, 2008. Finalists will be announced several days before voting begins.

all sites that have grown from the early Air America fanbase and continued with largely the same community, growing larger all the time and following these guys thorugh their projects. The basic interest is liberal politics, but the community covers everything from recipes to meeting up to personal relaitonships and support...to pets...to life in general.
maron v seder is a new project that is live at 3PM EST weekdays and replayed continuously with a chat and blog feature that is ongoing...
its an interesting new concept that is on the cutting edge of what broadcasting will likely be in the future. check it out.

Com.puter.tv has blown up on YouTube with their weekly show TechUpdate. The show summarizes all the best tech-related news from all the major blog sites, and fills in the blanks with endless banter.

More importantly, they have sparked a huge community of followers on their website and forums, and more importantly on YouTube. They give away prizes like video cards and high performace PC parts in exchange for viewers making their own reviews on products/games/etc...
